I can't believe my parents are so trusting and my nephew is so predictable. When all is said and done, I'll be first in line to say I told you so.
Adding to the Family
J and I went on a drive today for some alone time and went to the Castalia Fish Hatchery to feed the trout. It's something we enjoy doing. While there throwing cheesy poofs to the fish this guy was there with his kids doing the same. No biggie right? Well, when he went to leave we saw him crawl under his truck and pull out a little kitty. His kids played with it for awhile while he tried to get them to just leave it and get them back into the truck. I looked at J and told him to go help the guy out and distract the cat, who was following them around, long enough for him to get his kids in the truck and leave without hurting the kitty who was trying to crawl back underneath the vehicle. He reluctantly did and you know it... we brought her home.
She got a bath, a manicure/peticure, some food and water and lots of playtime. Then when all was said and done she got a nice long nap.
You can't really tell from these pics (because they're a bit dark) but she has a mix between brown and gray fur with the black stripes. I'd guess her age at about 2 months because she has most if not all of her teeth. She'll be going to the vet tomorrow to get a once over and some shots, so we'll see what she says.
We have been trying our best to keep her separated from the other cats but they did briefly check her out. Shadow seems to have given her his approval, Hexefus was bathing her, and Grimalkin came over sniffed her meowed and walked off. For Grimmy that's a pretty warm welcome. LOL She's picky about how gets her affections and not too many people, or other animals, do.
Well looks like all she needs now is a name. As with all of my other pets this could take awhile. LOL I haven't come up with much yet. J suggested Castalia since that's where we found her. Maybe even Cassie for short, but I don't know. Another one is Scout because it rhymes with trout. hahaha So far those are the front runners. When I picked her up I told her I was going to name her Scragglemuffin if I brought her home, but she didn't seem to like that one. Plus after being cleaned up it no longer fits.
J like how even on Father's Day I seem to manage to get a gift. ;)
Time to Reconnect
I have to admit I am a bit disappointed in myself for the way my spiritual life has been going. Last year I was so in tune with things and then turned my attention towards my husband and his path. He has been called by the Norse gods, Odin and Thor in particular. He has problems with reading comprehension. In order for him to retain the info it's not unusual for him to have to read things 4-5 times. He's not stupid though. LOL I asked if it would help for us to discuss things to make sure he understands them. He was gladly accepted the offer. The only thing is I didn't know all that much about the path other than general stuff, so I had to learn about it as well in order to be able to discuss it.
Now don't get me wrong. I enjoyed learning about this path and even more so enjoyed the interaction with my husband when we discussed things. The only thing I mind is that it feels as if I have put my own spiritual path on the back burner and am not as connected to it as I once was. I can't say I regret what I did. Honestly, I'd do it again if asked. It helped bring us closer together. The only things is it's not my path. I knew this going into it, but it still feels kind of weird learning all kinds of stuff and not having the same deep connections that he does. I was and am happy that he has experienced all that he has. Now I think it's time for me to reconnect and get back to my path.
Right now he's content where he's at so I'm going to put the energy I put into learning along with him into strengthening the connection with my path. I still feel a strong connection with my gods, but just feel as if I have been somewhat ignoring them and don't like that feeling. They have been very generous and understanding during this time and I am grateful for that, but again, I feel as if now it's time to turn my attention back to them. So hopefully as I reconnect with my path I'll have more to blog about where that is concerned.
What's Been Going On Here
I haven't had time to really update as often as I'd like to. With the kids out of school I'm finding myself trying to occupy their time and losing most of my free time. You know, normal mom stuff. LOL
We've spent a lot of time in the pool since school has let out because it's so darn hot outside. We've even had to put the A/C on. Normally it's late July early August before we have to. The past few days have seen temps in the 90's and the ferrets can't take the high temps.
Friday J and Z got sunburn real bad. Obviously the sunblock I bought didn't do crap for them. That will teach me to try and save a buck. A and M got red, but not as bad as the other two. My back got slightly burned. S and N are not as pale as the rest of us so they didn't get burned at all. Lucky butts. Ah, the joys of being as white as a sheet and having sensitive skin to boot. :P
This week N is going to class at the driving school in the mornings. Next week and the week after that the four younger ones go to summer camp. They might go more weeks than that, but right now that's all that's paid for and I'll have to see about the rest and whether or not openings are available.
My weekends lately have been super busy. J and I have been sprucing up the backyard and trimming plants and shrubs. (one has been trimmed twice already - I swear if that thing wasn't so nice looking it would be gone for growing like a weed) Other than that doing a lot of shopping getting things together for summer camp. Plus it's our time to spend time together seeing that when he gets home he's so tired he more or less falls asleep as soon as he sits down. I try to have dinner ready for him so he can eat BEFORE he falls asleep because he's a pain to try and wake up. He works hard, so I let him sleep.
Now it's time to go get lunch for the kids. They've been doing a countdown since 11:15. LOL
Next post will be more about how I am doing, which is good, but a little off track spiritually.
Good News
Just a quick update to say that N's MRI came back clear and the doc said to just have him gradually get back to his normal routine which he's been doing anyway. He went from having leg pain every 30 minutes to now once or twice a day, so it's obviously healing. I'm just glad to have some confirmation on it since it's not completely healed yet.
As for my dad, he seems to be doing a lot better today. He was given 3 units of blood and medication to ease his stomach. He's on blood thinners and the pain medication was upsetting his stomach and causing bleeding ulcers which bled until it all came up. (sorry about the TMI there) He's bummed that he's now behind on his physical therapy, but relieved that the bleeding stopped. He wants to come home today and his ortho doc said okay, but the other doctor wants him to wait until tomorrow and his heart doc has yet to chime in on any of it. My mom thinks it would be best for him to stay another day and as much as I know he wants to get home ASAP, I agree with her. In order for him to get into the house he needs to get up three steps and an extra day in there with PT would benefit him seeing that he doesn't start his regular PT until Monday. My mom being a retired nurse would be able to give him better care than he's probably getting where he's at, but she's just worried about the steps.
A big thank you to all who sent out prayers/energy and whatnot. They were very appreciated and worked wonders. :)
